Film Festival For Elementary Schools
It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of the Peel Student Film Festival (Elementary Division) for 2018. A number of members on the organizing committee have recently welcomed new additions to their families, leaving them with very little time to tackle the myriad tasks that must be undertaken in order to pull off an event of this magnitude. Discussions were held regarding the possibility of scaling back the festival, and we entertained the notion of holding a "virtual film festival" (with content being posted online), but in the end we all felt that none of those ideas measured up to the standard that we've tried to set for the event over the past three years. It was an incredibly difficult decision to make, and the committee members would like to offer their sincerest gratitude and apologies to all the students who had dreams of seeing their films on the big screen this year. Rest assured, the festival will be back--in all its glory in 2019, when everyone has had a chance to settle in to their new roles as parents, and is able to dedicate the time and energy that are required to make the PSFF the memorable experience that our students deserve. In one of the greatest films of our time Jurassic Park Ian Malcolm says "life finds a way..." Sometimes, unfortunately, life gets in the way, too.
Keep making films! We'll see you next year!
